Preparing your own spices allows you to prepare food quickly and easily and here is one absolutely amazing immunity spice mix that uses a blend of 7 spices that are nutritional powerhouses that can support your immune system, reduce inflammation, help in weight loss and soothe anxiety.
Turmeric is known for being a detoxifying agent with antiseptic and antibacterial properties that cleanse the liver. It is known to reduce the risk of cancer and also help in weight management. People with Alzheimer’s, arthritis and depression can find turmeric very helpful as well. Black pepper is another spice with anti-inflammatory properties. When coupled up with turmeric, black pepper enhances the bioavailability of the active ingredient curcumin 3-fold. Ingredients for the spice mix
- 3 tbsp turmeric
- 1 ½ tbsp ground cumin
- 1 ½ tbsp ground coriander
- 1 ½ tbsp ground fennel
- 1 ½ tsp dry ginger
- 1 tsp black pepper
- ⅛ tsp cinnamon
- 1 ½ tsp sea salt
For the grilled chicken
- 2 chicken breasts
- 3 tbsp coconut oil
- 1 tbsp of the immunity spice mix
Start off by slicing the chicken breasts in half horizontally so you are left with four pieces. This way, your chicken will cook faster and the spices will not burn as well.
For the immunity spice mix, mix all the ingredients together and store in a glass jar. Spread out about one tablespoon of the spice mix onto a plate. Then, rub both sides of the chicken with a little bit of coconut oil and press each side of the chicken onto the spices. Ensure that the chicken is lightly covered with the spices.
Next, add some oil on a plate and place the chicken on the oil to lightly coat both sides. Then, place the chicken on a hot grill and grill for three minutes until it has browned lightly. Flip the chicken over and allow it to grill on the other side for a further 3 minutes until it is well cooked through and is firm to the touch. Serve either hot or cold – it’s delicious either way!
